Summer 2023 On The Washington Coast – A Letter From Seabrook

Published: July 17, 2023 | Read Time: 2.5 Minutes

Dear future Seabrook guest,

Summertime memories are happening right now in Seabrook! From the sunny days spent exploring the town and beach, to day trips and nearby experiences, a summer getaway to Washington’s Beach Town has us feeling like this is hands-down the best place to visit on the Washington coast.

This summer marks a historical year for us with new town amenities and shops opening, along with the return of new and annual events that families look forward to attending year after year. We’ve watched our town bustling with excitement each day as families, couples, friend groups, and solo travelers effortlessly create their dream getaway and we’re so excited to be a part of these moments.

Earlier this month, thousands of people came to town for the Fourth of July holiday weekend! We saw so many festive outfits, decorated homes for the Porch Illumination Celebration, parades, elaborate barbecues and cookouts, colorful cocktails at the restaurants, and s’mores roasting over fire pits as everyone came together to celebrate Independence Day. The sunset on the holiday itself was one of the most beautiful sunsets of the year, offering a mesmerizing backdrop for the fireworks displays happening all along the beach. We want to thank everyone who helped keep the beach pristine during the cleanup before and after the holiday – that togetherness is all part of what makes Seabrook the best Fourth of July vacation destination on the coast.

When it comes to Washington state events, heading here where it’s full of summer events and activities for the whole family to enjoy is a must. The excitement around everything from the sunset concerts to the town tours and Saturday Markets, to the grand opening of the outdoor pool, the Arcade, and Mr. Walrus, has made each day an adventure and there’s a lot more where that came from heading into the rest of summer with us.

Many guests have shared their enthusiasm about bringing fun and a love of learning together with our Experts-In-Residence program — so far we’ve seen improv, STEAM projects, native plants and yoga lessons! — that are all family-friendly and take place each Saturday through Wednesday all summer.

For more learning and fun, we’ve also welcomed several authors as part of the Beachside Author Series with more to come. Stop by and hear from authors firsthand and feel your love of reading or writing reignite in these casual gatherings. All of the author events are free for all to attend, come join us for readings, Q&As, book signings, workshops, and more through October for that cherry-on-top of an already perfect coastal getaway.

Along with the unbeatable shopping and dining experiences in town, we’ve seen the smiles from the outdoor enthusiasts in Seabrook, too. We’ve seen yogis heading to Kucera Park on Saturdays for a serene session of morning yoga, beachgoers playing-it-up with beach volleyball classes, kids trying skimboarding and surfing for the first time, mountain bikers hitting the trails to take in that spectacular oceanview on the Mike-O-Rama trail, new gnome homes being ‘built’ in the Gnome Trail village, and pickleballers packing the pickleball courts, to just name a few outdoor activity highlights!

We can’t forget how magical the evenings are during this time of year, too. The twinkling lights of the town make watching each sunset even more special as it turns into primetime stargazing. Families gather on wraparound decks to play games, go for sunset strolls on the beach with their dogs, or grab an evening bite or drink at the local restaurants making each wind down from a day full of fun, relaxing on true quality time with those you love most.

There’s still plenty of summer left to soak in on the Washington coast, we can’t wait to see you at the beach!

Level Up At Seabrook’s Retro-themed Arcade Now Open On Front Street

Published: July 10, 2023 | Read Time: 3 Minutes

Summer of 2023 is Seabrook’s biggest summer yet! With new merchants and town amenities opening doors for the first time, there’s even more excitement to the buzzing beach town than in a typical coastal summer. The newest addition is the retro-themed Arcade that has brought in a wave of nostalgic and new games to a revamped space in the previous Fresh Foods Popup location.

The owner of the Arcade, James Austin, brings years of experience to this new town highlight. Through a combination of the Seabrook team and James’ vision of the arcade, the interior feels like stepping back in time to the 80s with bright colors and lights and the familiar sounds of new and traditional arcade games that will have kids and adults grinning ear-to-ear.

“Get ready for the sickest little arcade you’ve ever seen,” says James. “I’m excited about the new style of it and excited for the retro area.”

James likens the decor choices to similar to what we see in Stranger Things or in the flashback arcade scene in the popular show The Last Of Us with a distinctive aesthetic that we all know and love immediately when we see it. The main level of the arcade is full of classic arcade games and things to do, from skee-ball, hoop shooting, a boxing machine, a photo booth, fortune-telling machine, claw machines, and other games.

What makes the Arcade so special is the loft space that’s been opened up and remodeled into its own “retro-corner” with games many of us grew up playing with family and friends. Head upstairs for hours of play on games like PacMan, pinball, Mortal Combat, Defender, Centipede, Asteroids, and more. This space is perfect for players that want to play lots of games without splurging as each swipe per game is equivalent to a quarter, shares James.

There’s no need to worry about holding a bunch of tokens and stacking up tickets for the big payoff. The Arcade games use the modern and convenient card and virtual ticketing system where the tickets can be exchanged for traditional arcade-style prizes. There are prizes for everyone to love at the arcade, from classic plush toys to novelty items, and more.

James has decades of experience in the games and amusement industry and currently owns Pacific Paradise in Ocean Shores that he has refreshed and remodeled throughout his four years since taking it over. His enthusiasm and expertise has made the Arcade a fun, inviting space for people of all ages and we can’t wait for a summer full of games and fun in this new town addition.

Stop by the Arcade Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and follow their Instagram for the latest games and news!

Experience Seabrook’s 2023 Beachside Author Series

Published: July 3, 2023 | Read Time: 5 Minutes

For the readers, writers, and ever-curious minds in your crew, Seabrook is a must-visit destination this year. Join us to experience our first annual Beachside Author Series with author meet and greets, writing workshops, readings, and book signings.  Events are free to all to enjoy!

The first author’s weekend was perfect for little readers with four award-winning, beloved children’s authors coming together to share stories, answer questions, and sign books. The afternoon brought beautiful book displays, cozy rugs for kids to sit on, and a laid-back atmosphere that made the event fun and educational to attend. Book-themed food and drinks were provided by The Belfry team.

“I got to be part of the first event in the Seabrook Author series and assembled a panel of four accomplished authors for young readers—a Newbery winner, a National Book Award Finalist, a Washington State Book Award winner, and an author who makes unparalleled fart jokes (all of which are important to kids),” says Seabrook homeowner and award-winning author, Martha Brockenbrough. “Seabrook put on an extraordinary event, with custom beverages and snacks, beautiful signage, and a gorgeous location at The Belfry. This is an amazing thing for our guests and Seabrook residents … the chance to meet authors, get signed books, and learn the fascinating stories behind the books.”

The Seabrook team is honored to have had Martha participate in the kickoff event for the series and appreciates her support and insight for this vision.

“I’ve been a Seabrook homeowner for about six years now, and have hosted many retreats for aspiring writers in my home, the Lookout,” says Martha. “I’d often thought that Seabrook would be a perfect place for a book festival—there’s nothing better than books and beaches. That was too big of a project for me to take on myself, and I was thrilled that Seabrook has embraced this opportunity.”

Seabrook has long been a special place for writers and creators. Over the years several authors have spent days to weeks on property finding inspiration, writing essays, screenplays, and working on novels. Martha even based her newly released middle grade book on a discombobulated version of Seabrook. As far as getaways go, there is no better place to read than the beach. Whether that means lying on a towel in the sand soaking up the sun, or cozied up inside by the fire on a rainy day.

Early this year the idea of hosting one author in town over summer quickly expanded into launching a full series of celebrated best-selling and award-winning authors of all genres. The Seabrook team wanted to offer something for everyone, and there were many amazing writers interested in being part of it. Thus, the Seabrook Beachside Author Series was born.

In June, Seabrook hosted New York Times bestselling pop culture author and journalist, Chuck Klosterman. The crowd was captivated by his stories and journey as a writer, and laughed for well over an hour.

If you missed the first two events, mark your calendars for Saturday, July 15th for a reading, Q&A session, and book signing by the award-winning author, Kobi Yamada.

“How wonderful that Seabrook has created the Beachside Author Series this summer!” Kobi says. “I can’t think of a better place I’d rather be. I look forward to connecting with readers at this idyllic Washington gem nestled by the ocean.”

The Beachside Author Series comes to Seabrook as a way to enrich the literary experience and bring people together who share a love for the written word. Readers get the unique opportunity to connect with writers of their favorite books and get firsthand insights as to the writing process, themes, inspiration, and so much more. Seabrook has also partnered with Joie Des Livres, the local bookstore, to bring the joy of books right into each event with a variety of copies available to preorder or purchase at each event.

A quick tip from Martha: For those who are new to attending author events, you don’t have to buy anything. You can just be there and enjoy time with other readers. Having a signed book (and maybe a custom cocktail) makes it even more fun, but there is no pressure ever to buy.

The Seabrook Marketing Team’s 2023 Summer Bucket List

Published: June 26, 2023 | Read Time: 5.5 Minutes

The Seabrook Marketing Team loves living the beach life as much as you do! We’ve put together our must-do summer 2023 bucket list items to do around town. Take a look at all of our favorite summer activities below and don’t miss our last bucket list item where you and your crew have the chance to win a week-long stay in Seabrook and $5,000 cash.

Sunset Surfing

Grab a wetsuit, surfboard, and your best friends and head to the beach for some sunset surfing! There’s something magical about riding the waves under a colorful sunset into dusk where beach bonfires dot the shore and the twinkling lights of the town add to a perfect ambiance. If you don’t have your own gear or forgot to bring something along, Buck’s Northwest (permanently closed) has everything you need to rent or you can head to Red Cedar Outfitters to purchase whatever you’re missing, too.

Hot Tub Stargazing

You can be sure that anytime we stay in Seabrook, there’s a hot tub involved somewhere. After a day full of running and playing, topping off an evening with stargazing from a hot tub is the perfect way to end any day at the beach. If you’re lucky, you may see a shooting star or two with Seabrook’s minimal light pollution to obscure the starry sky views.

Playing Some Pickleball

A highlight of every summer season for our team is hitting the courts for some pickleball and it’s growing in town! Our favorite time to play is first thing in the morning followed by a stop by Vista Bakeshop. If you’re new to pickleball or want to learn some tips and tricks, Scott Smith also offers free Intro to Pickleball lessons in the summer.

Having A Beach Bonfire

There’s really no wrong way to have a beach bonfire but our must-haves include a great playlist, roasting marshmallows, singing, dancing, getting cheddar dogs, and bringing along perfect summertime adult beverages, like brown sugar bourbon, to stay warm and toasty throughout the evening.

Going Out For A Picnic

If you don’t have a blanket from SeaWorthy Home or PONDR, stop by and pick one up for a great picnicking blanket! There are so many great food and drink options around town, not to mention parks and of course, the beach, to go have a picnic. We love grabbing pizza, sandwiches, or salads from the restaurants and relaxing in one of the quiet pocket parks.

Seeing A Sunset Concert

Fridays of summer in Seabrook are extra special because we can start off the weekend with live music in the Sunset Amphitheater while bringing along our favorite food and drinks. We love getting wine, beer, or cocktails to go from the restaurants and bringing along takeout options.

Checking Out The Town Tour

Seabrook grows so much every year, there’s always something new to learn on the Seabrook Town Tour with Casey, Stephen, or the sales team. It’s always exciting to take a deeper look into all of the planning that goes into making the town so special.

Scoping Out Photo-Op Spots

There are so many places around town to commemorate being in Seabrook! No getaway or walk around town is complete without taking a photo at The Big Chair in the town center, the Northwest Glen Arbor, the Grand Staircase at West Hill Park, or Growler the Bigfoot in Growler’s Alley!

Doing Morning Yoga In Kucera Park

The sunny Saturdays of summer aren’t complete without joining in with other yogis for some Sunrise Yoga with an ocean view.

Mountain Biking

We could easily dedicate hours everyday to the mountain biking trail network in and around Seabrook – there’s 160 acres of DNR Trails to explore! There’s new trails being worked on and refined all of the time, you’ll never be disappointed and can get any level of workout that you want.

Day Tripping To Griffith-Priday State Park

Griffith-Priday State Park is just a few minutes away from Seabrook. It’s typically not too busy and has all kinds of beautiful shoreline and wildlife to see along the trails and beach.

Going On The Ghost Forest Tour

Whether you’re a history buff or just enjoying being outside and on the water, we can’t recommend enough booking a Ghost Forest Tour through Buck’s Northwest (permanently closed). Learn about what makes the forest so ghostly on the tour and enjoying paddling in a kayak or SUP.

Playing Games At The Arcade

The nostalgia of playing our favorite retro games at the Arcade is a fun and carefree pastime all summer long. It’s hard to pick just one favorite arcade game that’s a must-play this summer, but a good ol’ game of Pac-Man is a must for us once the Arcade opens its doors!

Getting Together For Flag Football

Soak up the summer sun and bring on the friendly competition with a flag football game with your family and friends! If you need a football and flags, they’re available for Seabrook guests at The Dugout.

Hosting A Summer Cookout

There’s never a bad time to fire up the barbecue for grilled steak, seafood, chicken, and vegetables for an amazing summer cookout. We’ll be having the biggest cookouts yet this summer with everything and all of the fixings right there to grab at Fresh Foods Market.

Trying Every Restaurant

It’s hard to choose where to grab breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks with all of the amazing dining options throughout town. This summer we plan to try all of the restaurants a few times over as they’re always refining menus and bringing in new and tasty things to try!

Making Dinner With Saturday Market Finds

Tasty food with fresh, local ingredients is hard to top! We love shopping the regional vendors at the Saturday Markets to find everything we need to put together a nutritious and flavorful meal.

Creating A Chalk Obstacle Course For Bikes

If you have kids in your crew, pick up some chalk from Brooklets Toys and start chalking the block for hours of entertainment for the little ones (and adults, too).

Playing Flashlight Tag In The Park

Bring back your own childhood memories and come play flashlight tag at one of the many parks in Seabrook! Our favorites for flashlight tag are Crescent Park, Kucera Park, or Horseshoe Park.

Sipping On Cocktails At Sunset

The amazing restaurants around town offer cocktails and other drinks to-go. Picking up your favorite and enjoying it at the restaurant’s outdoor seating or on a slow stroll to the beach is a highlight of a summer evening.

Go Beachcombing

Beachcombing in the summer months isn’t quite as intense as it is during fall through spring but it’s still an exciting pastime all the same. Scope out the shores for unique shells, driftwood, sea glass, and other treasures.

Building A Gnome Or Fairy Home

The Gnome Trail forest and trails are always a treat to walk through! We love spending time with our families crafting together new gnome or fairy homes out of the materials we can find right in the forest.

Creating Or Shopping For A Summer 2023 Keepsake

The years pass by so quickly and we want to make sure we remember each one and what they meant to us! So many of the local merchants have that perfect “something” to remember the summer by, whether it’s a new piece of clothing, decor, jewelry, swag, custom candle, book, or game.

Filming A Home Video

And for our bucket list finale we have filming a home video! We love capturing those precious moments with our loved ones and can’t wait to see yours, too. Here are the competition outlines:

The Prompt: Capture the intangibles of what it feels like to be in Seabrook with your crew in the summer. We are looking for creative, feel-good, fun that brings the viewer into your favorite memories at Seabrook.

The alley is now open to all ages and everyone is invited to use the tent, play outdoor games, take a photo with Growler the Sasquatch, and relax around the fire pit. Even though it’s not an official beer garden, you can still pick up your favorite adult beverage from a nearby merchant and sip away at Growler’s Alley.

Furry Friends Are Welcome In Seabrook!

Vista Bakeshop: Pastries, Desserts, Café Drinks, Sandwiches & More

Vista Bakeshop offers pastries, desserts, and your favorite hot or iced drinks all day for easy grab-and-go breakfast and snacks! They also offer lunch sandwiches, like their crowd-favorite BLT or chicken pesto, beginning at 11:00 AM. Get next-level savory and accompany your to-go items with housemade pickles, marinated olives, and sundry items like chips, popcorn, soda, and much more.

The Stowaway: Drinks, Brunch, Melts & More

It’s Brunch Time

Try out brunch on Saturday and Sundays 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. Brunch options include three boards and drinks like a mimosa, Bloody Samurai, Vinho Verde, and Stowaway Spritz that are great for sharing and grabbing to go.

Stop By The To-Go Stand Before The Sunset Concert Series

Stop by the corner of the wine bar’s patio from June 30th through September 1st at 5:00 PM-7:30 PM. This will be every Friday of the Sunset Concert Series. There will be beer, wine, mocktails, and food to go. Easy to grab and go on your way to the concert.

A New Summer Menu & More

Beginning on Memorial Day Weekend, The Stowaway has a new summer menu to come and try out! Don’t miss out on other great to-go options like the roasted cauliflower dish with Tahini. There will also be a new crab melt special that makes a great to-go dish every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starting June 30th (at least through September) that are served until they are gone. And, of course, any of The Stowaway’s drinks are available to go at any time.

Visitors can also take a drink or bottle to go over to Lorraine’s Candle Studio to enjoy while they make candles. Their food menus are also at Lorraine’s if patrons want to order something to enjoy while they are there. Patrons can also purchase bottles of wine to take to Rising Tide Tavern, just ask the wine bar to put a Stowaway sticker on the bottle and the Tavern will waive the corkage fee.

The Salty Dog: Treats & Chews

Nobody loves eating outdoors more than your dog! Stop by The Salty Dog for a bag of treats or a tasty chew to bring to the beach or the fire pit. Their menu includes everything from s’mores to chicken feet! Then grab one of their food and beverage squeaky toys for the perfect souvenir.

Smitty’s Dog Co.: Ordering The Frank Sinatra

When a customer orders a Frank Sinatra, that means they want to have it Smitty’s way (they choose what to make). That usually involves a bacon cheddar sausage with cream cheese, grilled onions and peppers, sauerkraut, deli mustard, sweet chili sauce and some jalapenos or pepperoncini…and don’t forget the sprinkle of celery salt on top! Delicious!

Koko’s: Grab Quesadillas & Burritos To Go

Full of flavor and just the right amount of spice, order a quesadilla to-go and choose from chicken, steak, carnitas, or veggies that are complemented by cheese, roasted corn, green and red peppers, caramelized onions with a garnish of crema, cotija cheese, and pico de gallo. Choose from multiple burrito options, from the burrito gordo that’s packed with meats, rice, beans, and cheeses to the Koko’s burrito that offers your choice of meat with all of the fixings for a delicious burrito.

Frontager’s Pizza Co. & Social: Antipasti, Salad, Pizza & Pasta

Order some of Frontager’s most popular to-go items like the garlic cheese bread served with a side of marinara or the fried cheese ravioli also served with marinara. The light and fresh kale caesar salad made with parmesan cheese, lemon, garlic croutons and caesar dressing is a great to-go dish. The fan-favorite pizzas ordered to go are the savory salumi pizza or the fennel sausage pizza! For pasta lovers, order the (new!) crab ravioli pasta made with garlic cream sauce and fresh parmesan cheese.

Rising Tide & Tavern: Chicken Wings & Cocktails To Go

The wings from Rising Tide are making waves around town! Don’t miss out on the great to-go wing dish that can be ordered with buffalo, BBQ, or Korean flavors. The Rising Tide team has been busy concocting the perfect summer cocktails! Try the new Bigfoot’s Bikini cocktail made with spiced rum, passionfruit, lime and mint or the Last Testament cocktail made with gin, brucato chaparral amaro, BroVo, Boomerang, absinthe, and lime.

Blue Juice & Salad Bar: The Smoothies Menu

Nothing beats walking around town with a fresh smoothie in hand and Blue has a delicious smoothie menu for a refreshing pick-me-up. Try Vitamin C-Brook this summer made with mango, pineapple, orange juice, and agave.

Fresh Foods Market: Cold-Case Sandwiches, Salads, Fruit & Drinks

The newly opened Fresh Foods Market is full of great to-go items to enjoy outdoors. From fresh fruit, parfaits, pasta salads, wraps, and a wide variety of ready-to-eat sandwiches, a quick lunch is readily available. On hot summer days, cool down with dozens of cold beverage options or sweet treats from the freezer section.

The Sweet Life: Ice Cream Cups & Ice Cream Sandwiches

Pickleball Grows In Seabrook, WA

Published: June 8, 2023 (Originally seen in Spoke Magazine) | Read Time: 2.5 Minutes

If you’ve walked past a tennis court lately, you’ll notice that almost every tennis racket has been replaced by a Pickleball paddle. Pickleball as a sport has grown to 38 million players in 2023. There were only about 5 million players in 2021, the sport has experienced unprecedented growth. It seems like everyone from professionals to total beginners have been captivated by the sport. Why is that imperative to know in regards to Seabrook? Because this beach town has decided to embrace pickleball with open arms and create exciting new ways to get involved with the help of part-time resident, Scott Smith.

Smith grew up playing competitive tennis since age 12 and like many others with a tennis background, picked up Pickleball about 5 years ago. As an ambassador for the USA Pickleball Association, certified Pickleball instructor, and tournament player, he’s very passionate about expanding pickleball in Seabrook.

“I kind of envision a small version of “Field of Dreams,” says Smith. “If you build it, they will come.”

And build it, we will! Seabrook plans on adding three additional pickleball courts as well as a small grandstand-type seating area this summer, so if playing isn’t your thing, watching the games will be an additional activity to keep you leisurely busy during your stay. Supporting the pickleball culture and creating yet another reason to visit, is something the entire community is excited about. Smith adds that Casey Roloff and team have been extremely supportive of growing pickleball in Seabrook. There is more exciting news to share in the near future (hint – indoor courts are being considered). Stay tuned.

“Many serious Pickleball players across the country will only vacation at destinations where there are a good number of Pickleball courts,” says Smith. “For me personally, there are a good number of homeowners who have recently embraced the sport and with the new courts coming, are excited to play more.”

The perk and one of the reasons for its rising popularity, is that pickleball is easier to pick up than tennis. It’s not as hard on the body and the consensus is that regardless of your skill level, it’s just plain fun!
Never played before? No problem. Smith, again this year, plans to hold lessons to teach beginners the basics of the sport, as well as have designated time slots for more experienced players. The courses are open to both Seabrook homeowners and guests, free of charge!

Scott’s sons are also newly addicted to the sport. “Both my boys, Trevor (31) and Brody (28) jumped into pickleball about two years ago,” says Smith. “We play every time we are together, and even played a sanctioned tournament with both Trevor and Brody in San Diego and Arizona, respectively. To be fortunate enough to compete on a similar level together was an experience I will never forget.”

With plans to hold tournaments at some point in the future, everyone from serious to casual players, and beginners, will be able to join in on the fun! With Smith’s help and his contagious passion for the sport, we are beyond excited to bring Pickleball to Seabrook. So, grab your paddle and we’ll see you on the court!

Pickleball paddles and balls can be checked out year-round for free at The Dugout, located by the South Crescent Indoor Pool. Just ask the pool attendant for assistance with checking out items.

The Call Of The Wild

Published: June 5 2023 | Read Time: 5 Minutes

Outdoor enthusiasts from all over the globe ping the Pacific Northwest as a top destination to visit and for good reason. Adventures are never in short supply in the PNW, especially a visit to the Washington coast and surrounding areas, whether you head north or south! We’ve compiled a list of some of the best destinations that are an easy day trip away from Seabrook, Washington, a beach town that offers plenty of outdoor activities on its own with an added bonus of resort-style amenities at more than 280 vacation rentals available year-round.

Plan A Morning Day Trip

If you’re looking for a relatively quick day trip destination, you’ll find plenty to see and do in the great outdoors within a few minutes of Seabrook.

Ghost Forest Tour

For a fun and historical guided kayaking tour, you don’t want to miss the Ghost Forest Tour hosted by Buck’s Northwest (permanently closed), just a fifteen-minute drive from Seabrook. The tour usually lasts about 3 hours and goes through the estuary of the remnants of an old-growth forest that was devastated from a tsunami in the 1700s.

Ocean Shores, Washington

Spend a morning exploring scenic sites all throughout Ocean Shores, Washington, just a twenty-five minute drive from Seabrook. Pack a picnic and meander through Ocean City State Park, Damon Point, Oyhut Wildlife Recreation Area, and the North Jetty to see trails, coastal wildlife, and miles of Ocean Shores beach accesses.

The Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge

A thirty-five minute drive from Seabrook in Hoquiam, Washington is the national wildlife refuge that offers a great, flat boardwalk with museum-style signage and a binocular observation stand to see how many different types of shorebirds you can see within the refuge. No dogs are allowed in the refuge and it’s a good idea to wear good walking shoes as there’s a ten-minute walk beyond the airport gate to the Sandpiper Trail boardwalk entrance.

Plan An Afternoon Day Trip

If you’re looking to spend a morning and time into the afternoon on a coastal adventure, we recommend these great stops for a scenic drive and ample time outside.

Quinault

Just a forty-five minute drive from Seabrook is Quinault where the Quinault Rain Forest just begs to be explored with hikes, old-growth forests, waterfalls, and the beautiful Lake Quinault that can be accessed from several picnic areas or from the Lake Quinault Lodge.

Hoh Rainforest

A two-hour drive away and part of the Olympic National Park is the Hoh Rainforest with a world-famous forest with towering trees, moss, and other greenery that feels like walking into a magical world in a storybook. There are shorter nature trails and also longer hikes throughout the area to explore.

Ruby Beach

One of Washington State’s most famous beaches is Ruby Beach with sea stacks, tide pools, driftwood, and more to explore in a breathtaking setting. An hour and eighteen minutes north, Ruby Beach is home to all kinds of wildlife in addition to plenty of paths and trails nearby to further explore the coast.

Plan An All Day Day-Trip

Pick a playlist and your favorite snacks and settle in for a relaxing, scenic drive to destinations that are going to take a few hours but are well worth the drive.

Lake Crescent

Two-and-a-half hours away is Lake Crescent with its notorious pristine, deep blue-green water and mountain views not to be missed on a trip through the Olympic Peninsula. Nearby, check out Marymere Falls or the Olympic Discovery Trail to take in even more memorable nature.

Ozette Triangle

You’ll need to plan ahead for this hiking day trip, a three-hour drive away. Make sure to bring plenty of food and water and get ready to explore a beautiful combination of the beach and forests with a variety of trails and distances available.

Cape Disappointment

Cape Disappointment State Park is a two-hour and fifteen-minute drive away with enough scenery to easily spend a whole day walking around exploring all of the trails nearby. Don’t miss out on the famous Dead Man’s Cove or the Cape Disappointment lighthouse recreation area that has an amazing view up and down the coast.

Stick Around Town For Some Of The Best Outdoor Activities

If you want to park your car and not drive for a few days, Seabrook has a lot to discover for outdoor enthusiasts, big and small.

Surfing, Paddleboarding, & Skimboarding

Watersports on the Washington coast offer an exhilarating and memorable experience for all ages. The crashing waves provide the perfect playground for adventure enthusiasts, as they carve through the water, ride the swells, and soak in the breathtaking coastal scenery, creating an unbeatable combination of fun and natural beauty. Bring your own gear or rent some from Buck’s Northwest (permanently closed) in Seabrook. Red Cedar Surf Co. also has all of your outdoor outfitting needs, from handcrafted surfboards, skimboards, wetsuits, and more.

No matter what captivates you about the great outdoors, you’ll discover that elusive “something” you seek while walking and hiking in this location with the sound of the ocean always heard through the trees.

Playing Beach Volleyball

Head down to the Pacific Glen beach access for volleyball games all summer long! If you don’t have a volleyball, stop by The Dugout located at the South Crescent Indoor Pool and ask the pool attendant to assist you with checking out a ball. There’s also beach volleyball with an instructor every Thursday beginning June 22, 2023 through August 31, 2023 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM!

Using The Beach As Your Artistic Canvas

Unleash your creativity and embrace the vast expanse of the beach as your personal canvas and playground. Whether you’re constructing intricate sandcastles, etching unique designs with stones, driftwood, or shells, or engaging in playful sand games, the possibilities are endless. As you immerse yourself in the sandy wonderland, you might stumble upon unexpected treasures like genuine glass floats or precious agates, adding an element of delightful surprise to your beach adventures.

Vacation Rentals Built With Adventurers In Mind

Whether you’re getting sandy, muddy, or wet from the crashing waves, cleanup in a Seabrook vacation rental is easy. Many homes have outdoor showers, spigots for rinsing sandy toes or paws, and mudrooms for a carefree transition from adventuring to relaxing. Check out homes that make evenings relaxed like private hot tubs, wraparound decks, fire pits, and outdoor lounge chairs. Many homes are also dog-friendly, so if your four-legged friends are also your adventure buddies, they can come for a stay, too.

Why You Won’t See Kids In Seabrook In The Month Of June

Published: May 26, 2023 | Read Time: 2 Minutes

Seabrookers know that June is one of the best times of the year to get your toes in the sand! With warm days, lighter crowds, and school still in session, it’s no wonder people book additional Seabrook getaways before July. Sneaking in a long weekend or midweek stay is perfect for couples, friend groups, and solo travelers.

Make The Most Of The “Mini-Summer” At The Beach

There’s an average of only nine days of (usually light!) rain during the month of June on the Washington coast. With the temperature averaging just above the mid-sixties, the overcast to sunny days throughout the month make it ideal for beach lovers and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy a quiet getaway. With fewer people at the beach, trails, in the Town Center, and on the outdoor sports courts than a typical summer day, it’s an easy choice to pack up and head to the coast for a quick, refreshing getaway.

Couples can enjoy strolling the beach, friend groups can bask in the sun with cool drinks in hand while hanging out together at the ample outdoor seating around town, and solo travelers can unwind at their favorite park to peacefully spend an afternoon reading. There are so many more beach town activities that are all low-key, “kidless,” and just what you’ve been looking for in a break from the daily grind before summer’s official arrival.

You Can Keep Your Schedule Mellow Or Full

Make it a retreat of slow mornings, long lunches, and walks on the beach or fill up your days with unique experiences or events around town, the choice is yours!

If you like to keep busy, check out The Seabrook Relay (June 3rd), The Stowaway Market Street Wine Walk (June 10th), Father’s Day Spirits Tasting (June 17th), Dad’s Dash 3k (June 18th), Beach Volleyball (June 22nd, 29th), Experts-In-Residence (June 24th), Saturday Yoga (June 24th), Saturday Market (June 24th), Block Party (June 24th), or the Sunset Concerts (June 30th).

For experiences around town minus the crowds, consider booking a surfing lesson, going mountain biking, booking a spa treatment, creating a custom candle, hosting a private shopping event at Magnolias, and so many other fun things to do this time of year.

Dine-Out Without The Wait Times

Try all of the dining options that are guaranteed to be relaxing as you savor the local cuisine without the hassle of potentially long wait times. You won’t have to miss out on the chance to try a new restaurant or return to your favorites for your must-have Seabrook meals during June.

Seabrook Spring Food Tour With Concierge Services Jeff Wilson

Stop by Koko’s Restaurant & Tequila Bar, Frontager’s Pizza Co. & Social, Rising Tide & Tavern, Vista Bakeshop, The Stowaway Wine Bar, Blue Juice & Salad Bar, The Belfry Cafe, or the Fresh Foods Market for a wide selection of menu items, from sandwiches to burgers, salads, smoothies, and staple breakfast items.

Take In The Serenity Of The Ocean & The Forest

Stress melts away in Seabrook with so much to explore solo or together along the coast. The quiet town and streets make it oh-so-easy to have your senses captivated by the vibrant colors of summer, along with the sweet scents of blossoms combined with the refreshing hint of ocean air and the distant sound of crashing waves and melodious birdsongs. Explore the trail networks by foot or by mountain bike, walk or bike the miles of shoreline along the water’s edge, or enjoy a picnic by Elk Creek to feel especially rejuvenated.

A Summer Built For Memories

This year, summer in Seabrook will be unlike any other with several exciting new additions opening including a full-fledged market, an outdoor heated pool, and more. When it comes to summer vacations for families, friend groups, couples, or solo travelers, everyone can have the getaway they’ve been dreaming about, from outdoorsy and adventurous, to leisurely and luxurious.

Stress Less & Pack Light

Every stay starts with finding the perfect vacation rental. Seabrook offers more than 275 homes of all sizes – from beachfront to the bustling town center, and the serene farm district. Guests will find everything from small cottages that sleep two, to homes suitable for up to 22. They vary in size and style, and include amenities such as private hot tubs and barbecues, pet-friendly lodging, fire pits, extended outdoor spaces, EV charging stations, and outdoor showers.

Guests can choose a home location to best fit their needs – close to the playground for littles who can’t get enough of the slides or zipline, near the pool for swim lovers, or beachfront for those that want to bask in the ocean view. It’s a great feeling to settle into your home away from home knowing everything you want is close by.

Vacation rentals come stocked with resort-style amenities including kitchenware, bedding, towels, and starter amounts of laundry detergent. Several homes are stocked with board games, video games, beach toys, and baby gear which reduces the list of extra items to pack up for the trip. Many vacation rentals have virtual tours on their pages, so your little ones can call dibs on their rooms and beds well before you arrive, adding to the magic of the getaway when it feels like home the moment you walk through the door.

Another way to pack light is by utilizing grocery delivery services, pre-ordered grocery pick up, or grocery shopping once you get into town at  Fresh Foods Market, opening by June of 2023. No more heavy ice chests or having to stop for more ice along the way!

Quiet Mornings & Fun-filled Afternoons

Mornings on the Washington coast beckon deep breaths of fresh ocean air, leisurely strolls, and savoring the peaceful moments with coffee on the porch as the marine layer lifts and the day warms. For the early risers in your crew, Vista Bakeshop offers coffee, pastries, and breakfast items to take home or enjoy in their newly expanded space. This summer, The Stowaway, Rising Tide and The Belfry Café are offering weekend brunch options (permanently closed). Blue Juice & Salad Bar provides the most refreshing juices, smoothies, and bowls to really start your day off right.

Whether your crew wants to start the day off taking it easy at the outdoor Sunrise Pool, shopping the Town Center, heading to the beach, or checking out what expert-in-residence is in town, options are a short walk or bike ride away. Make the day your own with so many activities throughout town to explore, from pickleball and mountain biking, to beach volleyball or your favorite watersports.

When it’s time to eat and you don’t feel like cooking, the growing food scene in town has something for every appetite. From freshly made pizza, tacos, burgers, sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, take-and-go meals, and more, the restaurants offer flavorful dishes and refreshing drinks to match.

Don’t Miss The Weekend Activities This Summer

If you’re staying over a weekend this summer, don’t miss Sunset Concerts in the Sunset Amphitheater every Friday evening and Saturday Markets to shop for everything from home decor to fresh produce. Saturday Block Parties offer yard games, music, and bubble machines.

The Belfry At Seabrook (now The Seabrook Town Hall) is bringing on the fun this summer with Saturday slushies, caramel apple stations, make-your-own ‘dirt cups’, and bouncy houses once a month, along with family-friendly dinner nights featuring everything from crab feeds to noodle bowl nights.

There’s also yoga in Kucera Park on Saturdays, you’ll come away refreshed and centered in no time with an ocean view and the calming sound of the waves in the distance. Visit the events page for all of the summer events: Seabrook Events

A Close-By, Effortless Retreat For Families

Seabrook is built on the principles of new urbanism, making the entire town not only walkable and bikeable, but especially safe for pedestrians. The town makes it easy for the kids to get around on their own, by foot or by bike, and stop in for ice cream or a game of basketball at the park without worries of fast-paced traffic. There are plenty of pedestrian-only trails and promenades throughout town, making it easy to skip from park to park or neighborhood to neighborhood with minimal street crossings.

The location of the town also can’t be beat – a short drive from Seattle and Portland where the last leg of the drive is always the best, with tall trees, good music, ocean views, and snacks (or whatever makes your road trip essentials list).

We can’t wait for this special summer to arrive and for new memories to be made throughout town, from the campfire songs and family dinners, to the evenings watching the unforgettable sunsets over the Pacific Ocean.

Choosing the best neighborhood for your crew is all part of the fun, too. For frequent beach-goers, try choosing an oceanfront home right by the beach accesses. The History And Future Of Seabrook’s Forest

The land Seabrook currently encompasses has a deep history, from the natural resources used by indigenous people to the repeated clear-cutting of the forests prior to Seabrook’s establishment. Following the logging of these lands, what was left behind was an unhealthy and unmanaged forest landscape that would take many years to correct and regenerate.

Through careful planning involving teams of experts, Seabrook is dedicated to protecting and revitalizing these inherited forests by implementing a long-term forest stewardship plan with the goal of returning the forests to their original health and vitality, more reminiscent of the forests that existed prior to the logging industry boom of the past century.

Inheriting Unhealthy, Post-Lumbered Land

“Many people, when they look at the woodlands in and around Seabrook, often think that these forests are untouched, and that’s simply not the case,” says Stephen Poulakos, Director of Town Planning & Design. “Our work with expert foresters, ecologists, and other landscape architects have indicated that most of the property has been lumbered at least two times, and in some areas, three times.”

Repeated lumbering over the course of many years has resulted in lasting damage to the forest ecosystem and related habitats. As a result, very thick and dense forest stands have been left behind that do not allow for adequate sunlight to nourish the important undergrowth typically found on the forest floors of true old-growth climax forests. Walks through Seabrook’s preserve areas reveal a series of forest habitats that are choked with the remnants of fallen trees, stumps, and other left behind logging debris. This has reduced biodiversity and has made it more difficult for wildlife and diverse plant life to exist and thrive.

“All of the different forest areas are in different degrees of regeneration,” says Stephen. “Unfortunately, many of these forest stands were lumbered during times when forestry practices were not as carefully scrutinized.”

Today, wetlands, creeks, and other conservation areas are much better protected. Seabrook has fully embraced these protections and has been proactive in finding the best ways to help nurture the unhealthy forest stands, having not been well managed for decades.

“We take this responsibility of being stewards of this land very seriously,” says Stephen. “We’ve been analyzing it and studying it with experts in the field to help us come up with a forest stewardship plan for the future.”

The town planning of Seabrook takes into account many factors, always with conscious decisions being made to create and sustain a healthy forest and town.

“One of our most significant challenges is how to seamlessly integrate the town plan into the natural environment,” Stephen says. “Oftentimes, this means that specific forest areas, usually the most unhealthy of forest stands, are required to be cleared to make way for new homes and neighborhoods. This is always done in a way that encourages context-sensitive design by concentrating a denser town footprint on a smaller segment of land, in turn allowing for the creation of more walkable and bikeable places as opposed to the stark alternative of large lot suburban development that we are all too often familiar with today. This is how we seamlessly intertwine the town into the coastal landscape while protecting the forest stands that are worthy of protection for regeneration as future greenways and parks that will be gladly handed down to generations to come.”

Remembering The Land’s History To Build A Lasting Legacy

All of the coastal land prior to the timber industry’s arrival was used throughout the year for sustenance by Native Americans, dating back centuries. The land was incredibly fruitful and used for everything from camping, fishing, clam digging, foraging, and utilizing trees and plants for many different purposes.

According to consultations with Quinault tribal members, the cedar tree is perhaps the most important tree of the Quinault Indian people. Historically, they used everything from the bark and wood for cedar planks for long houses, canoes, basket weaving, clothing, and much more.

While the fact of the logging history of the land cannot be changed, remembering all of the land’s history is built into the forest stewardship plan. The timber industry in Washington helped shape the Pacific Northwest into what it is today. It was not only a leading source of timber products globally, it also boosted the local economies, population, and overall development throughout all of the Pacific Northwest. There are eventual plans to build more trails with museum-style signage that will display the Quinault Indian Nation history, logging history, and ecology history of the forest to help trail-goers understand the complex history these forestlands hold.

With the help of expert advisors at the Watershed Company, Seabrook has created  short-term, middle-term, and long-term plans to bring back sustainable growth to the forest. Part of these plans include a concept known as forest thinning, where the incremental removal of specific trees is advised to bring more light and nutrients to the healthier growing trees, their understories, and the native shrubs and plants that grow upon the forest floor.

In the future, more of the indigenous native plants will have space to flourish, including plants like varying fern species, salmonberry, salal, huckleberry, elderberry bushes, and many more.

There are several locations throughout Seabrook where passersby can observe the land’s history. Take a look at these historical locations around town:

Northwest Glen’s Coastal Preserve Area – While town planning development would have permitted the creation of 16 oceanfront lots in the Northwest Glen neighborhood lowlands, Seabrook’s design team advised against it, instead, creating a coastal preserve in lieu of building additional oceanfront homes. It’s fondly referred to as Town Founders, Casey and Laura Roloff’s, gift to this neighborhood, the town of Seabrook, and the North Beach area. The concept of founder’s gifts comes from the town of Seaside, Florida, which has been an inspiration to Seabrook’s town plan. With every new neighborhood, Seaside’s founders would give a gift of art, amenities, or common areas to that neighborhood and the community. Though Northwest Glen’s Coastal Preserve is much more than a gift from the founders, it did set the tone for the town’s commitment to preserving the natural beauty and making its beauty more accessible.

The Old Cedar Stump – The stump is located in the Mill District. Take a look at the large notches on the stump’s outside perimeter. These notches were where loggers would place wooden longboard planks in order to stand and fell the tree with sizeable 2-person metal hand saws known as “misery whips.” To protect this historic stump, Seabrook designed a roof over it to shed water and allow it to exist much longer into the future as an important relic of the old-growth forests that once stood on these lands prior to being lumbered near the turn of the last century.

The Dorothy Anderson Cabin – Take a look at the original (now restored) cabin built back in the early 1900s by Dorothy Anderson, a rugged Scandinavian woman who moved to the coast after visiting and falling in love with its beauty. Once moving to the area, she built this cabin in Ocean City along with seven additional cabins (none remaining today) so that others could share in her love for the coast. According to the Museum of the North Beach in Moclips, WA, it was one of the first resorts of its kind on the Washington coast.

The Woodland Promenade – The pedestrian promenade located west of Meriweather Square was left as untouched as possible, with the original town plan being altered to conserve the space. Take note of the nursing trees inside of the promenade for a glimpse into the area’s history, specifically on the east end of the promenade, where the “Octopus” cedar tree grows out of a leftover stump from the earlier logging days.

The Gnome Trail – The magical trail located in the Mill District is actually one of the old skid log roads that loggers used to harvest timber. At the base of the trail, hikers can see a large log with a flat top where logged trees were skidded across to what was formerly known as “Santa Claus Corner” due to the logger who directed the removal of the logs’ resemblance of Santa Claus.

The Old Highway – Many people do not know that the original coastal highway before the current Hidden Coast Scenic Byway (Hwy 109) ran straight through the Pacific Glen and Northwest Glen Neighborhoods. There was even a bridge that once connected the two peninsulas! Instead of building oceanfront homes right to the coastal edge, Seabrook’s town planners wisely chose to preserve the old asphalt roadway by incorporating it into the town plan and creating a publicly accessible pedestrian esplanade that still exists in both neighborhoods to this day.  The actual pavement from the old highway still exists under the recycled crushed oyster shell esplanade that runs along the coastal bluff’s edge.

The Heritage Tree – Visit the large tree located at the southern end of the Elk Creek neighborhood. This Sitka spruce (Picea Sitchensis) tree is 130 feet tall, has a trunk diameter of 80 inches and is more than 200 years old.

Helping To Keep The Water Clean With Sustainability Efforts

“Seabrook is actually named for the brooks, streams, and waterways that go out to the ocean,” Stephen says. “It’s vitally important to make sure that they run clean and clear and that they are carefully managed so that by the time runoff water makes it to the ocean, development does not negatively impact the shore and shoreline.”

Seabrook is built upon new urbanism principles that leave behind a smaller footprint and focus on various ways to promote sustainable development. Here are just a few ways Seabrook contributes to cleaner water:

  • Limiting the use of impervious surfaces, such as concrete and asphalt
  • Narrow roads to encourage walking and biking, resulting in less motor vehicle pollution
  • Smaller, intimate neighborhoods
  • Shared community spaces versus individual lawns
  • Crushed oyster shell pathways
  • Open swales to slow water down
  • Rain gardens to manage stormwater runoff
  • Organic-based pesticides
  • Organic-based fertilizers

More than 40% of Seabrook is retained in open space, meaning that all of that land is purposely left undeveloped to provide important greenways with varying topography. This permits Seabrook to build miles of woodland hiking and biking trails that connect Seabrook’s various neighborhoods. This also ensures that the health of these green spaces is allowed to thrive once again.

As the town grows, so will the forests. With continual efforts of Seabrook and community partners, this will result in not only a thriving community but a thriving coastal landscape to enjoy for many generations to come.

What You Can Do To Help

Join Seabrook’s team in their stewardship efforts by leaving the nature trails and beaches free of trash and debris, using natural materials only on the Gnome Trail, recycling, and walking instead of using gas-powered vehicles while visiting.

The Gnome Trail

Just beyond The Old Cedar Stump in the Mill District is the beginning of the Gnome Trail that has become a must-visit trail for visitors. With several trails interwoven through the forest attaching to the Gnome Trail, take a whimsical walk and see all of the gnome homes that are home to the magical creatures of the forest. You can build your own gnome house, too. Please take care to make sure it’s made from all natural materials to keep the forest clean for the gnomes and fairy creatures that live there.

Not quite ready to wrap up a walk in the woods? If you cross the road (with care) at the foot of the trail, the entrance to the Elk Creek trail is there that winds through more beautiful forestry that ends up at the beach! Expect about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the head of the Gnome Trail to the beach via the Elk Creek trail. Make sure to wear proper footwear if the weather has been rainy as portions of the trail can become muddy.

The History Of The Gnome Trail

The trail is one of the old skid log roads that loggers used to harvest timber. At the base of the trail, hikers can see a large log with a flat top where logged trees were skidded across to what was formerly known as “Santa Claus Corner” due to the logger who directed the removal of the logs’ resemblance of Santa Claus. Visitors can also see notches in the stumps that are remnants of the logging history in the area.

The Historic Dorothy Anderson Cabin

Step back in time with a look at the historic Dorothy Anderson Cabin located in the Alderwood District of Seabrook.

Dorothy Anderson was a Scandinavian woman who had visited the coast and moved there shortly thereafter, having been drawn in by the breathtaking beauty of the Washington coast. Visitors can take a look at the original (now restored) cabin that was built in the early 1900s that she built in Ocean City. The cabin is the last remaining of seven additional cabins that Dorothy built for others to come and take in the beauty of the coast.

According to the Museum of the North Beach, located just five minutes away from Seabrook in Moclips, Dorothy’s cabins were one of the first resorts of its kind on the Washington Coast.

The Old Cedar Stump

Make sure to stop by The Old Cedar Stump for a peek into the land’s logging past and a photo-op with the kids who are sure to be in awe! Take a walk to the Mill District at the crest of the Gnome Trail and you can’t miss the stump.

Visitors can see large notches on the outer perimeter that notate where planks were used by loggers to stand on while they used a 2-person saw to painstakingly fell each tree.

The Old Cedar Stump has a roof built on it to protect the stump from the elements as one of the few remnants of the old-growth forest that used to cover the coast. Take a look in and around the stump for a glimpse into the past.

Celebrating Mothers With Lorraine’s Candle Studio

Seabrook is where memories are waiting to be made, the perfect atmosphere for quality time with loved ones. As Mother’s Day approaches and we reflect on the special places mothers hold in our hearts, we’d like to highlight a Seabrook mother/daughter merchant that honors their mother and grandmother’s memory every day. Lorraine’s Candle Studio is affectionately named after her and has become a must-stop experience in the Town Center for locals and visitors alike.

A Legacy Of Love And Family At Lorraine’s

Stepping into Lorraine’s Candle Studio means being welcomed by the inviting scent of candles, richly colored decor, and warm furnishings that beckon visitors to relax while shopping or creating custom candles. The thoughtful care that went into curating this special, unique space comes from Kathy and Kristine Sickels, daughter and granddaughter of the late Lorraine Pauly who passed away in 2016.

Throughout Lorraine’s 99 years of life, spending time with loved ones was what mattered most. She passed on that legacy of sharing experiences and making memories with Kathy and Kristine, who, after an evening of sipping wine at The Stowaway, came up with the idea to call the studio ‘Lorraine’s’ in her honor.

“My mom and I love doing things together,” says Kristine, noting that she and Kathy have been going on mother/daughter trips for more than 20 years. “We wanted to create a space where people want to come and share a little memory together.”

Inside the studio, shoppers are greeted with a wall of family photos of Lorraine, lending to the heartwarming atmosphere that has been bringing people together since its grand opening on July 22, 2022.

“We had absolutely no idea what was going to happen,” Kathy says, thinking back on their opening day. “We were pleasantly surprised at how many people came in and wanted to make candles. We’re very excited to see that our mission of bringing friends and families together to make memories is what’s happening in our store.”

Kathy, Kristine, and the entire Lorraine’s team enjoy being a part of every unique candle that is made. Whether it’s a mother and daughter duo, a girls or guys getaway activity, couples, or families coming together, it’s a dream come true for them to see everyone coming together at Lorraine’s.

A Place To Be Together & Experience Something New

Every detail inside Lorraine’s was designed to create a comfortable space for gathering and building  on the sense of community felt throughout town. Kathy and Kristine sourced the furnishings from many local vendors and worked hard to ensure the store felt like a natural extension of Seabrook. The signature windswept trees of Seabrook seen pictured on a wall at Lorraine’s is just one example of the team thoughtfully embracing being a part of the beach town.

“This isn’t a chain, this is our first store together,” says Kristine, who is also a Seabrook homeowner since 2018. “We really care about the town and we feel like we have a responsibility to represent Seabrook really well.”

The studio is the perfect space for solo travelers, small groups, families, and couples looking for a low-key, fun, and engaging experience. Those who have stopped by Lorraine’s likely recall the warm welcome of the studio’s manager, Amber, who has been there since the store opened. The experienced staff is there to guide guests through the candle-making process, from choosing the scents, to setting the candles, and answering any questions along the way.

Open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Lorraine’s offers candle-making sessions, highlighting a variety of scent options including spring inspired limoncello cream, matcha and bergamot, passionfruit & pineapple, and many more! There is a wide variety of unique vessels to choose from making each candle unique.

Lorraine’s also hosts private events and offers online ordering, check out Lorraine’s Candle Studio website for more information.
