Seabrook is where memories are waiting to be made, the perfect atmosphere for quality time with loved ones. As Mother’s Day approaches and we reflect on the special places mothers hold in our hearts, we’d like to highlight a Seabrook mother/daughter merchant that honors their mother and grandmother’s memory every day. Lorraine’s Candle Studio is affectionately named after her and has become a must-stop experience in the Town Center for locals and visitors alike.
A Legacy Of Love And Family At Lorraine’s
Stepping into Lorraine’s Candle Studio means being welcomed by the inviting scent of candles, richly colored decor, and warm furnishings that beckon visitors to relax while shopping or creating custom candles. The thoughtful care that went into curating this special, unique space comes from Kathy and Kristine Sickels, daughter and granddaughter of the late Lorraine Pauly who passed away in 2016.
Throughout Lorraine’s 99 years of life, spending time with loved ones was what mattered most. She passed on that legacy of sharing experiences and making memories with Kathy and Kristine, who, after an evening of sipping wine at The Stowaway, came up with the idea to call the studio ‘Lorraine’s’ in her honor.
“My mom and I love doing things together,” says Kristine, noting that she and Kathy have been going on mother/daughter trips for more than 20 years. “We wanted to create a space where people want to come and share a little memory together.”
Inside the studio, shoppers are greeted with a wall of family photos of Lorraine, lending to the heartwarming atmosphere that has been bringing people together since its grand opening on July 22, 2022.
“We had absolutely no idea what was going to happen,” Kathy says, thinking back on their opening day. “We were pleasantly surprised at how many people came in and wanted to make candles. We’re very excited to see that our mission of bringing friends and families together to make memories is what’s happening in our store.”
Kathy, Kristine, and the entire Lorraine’s team enjoy being a part of every unique candle that is made. Whether it’s a mother and daughter duo, a girls or guys getaway activity, couples, or families coming together, it’s a dream come true for them to see everyone coming together at Lorraine’s.
A Place To Be Together & Experience Something New
Every detail inside Lorraine’s was designed to create a comfortable space for gathering and building on the sense of community felt throughout town. Kathy and Kristine sourced the furnishings from many local vendors and worked hard to ensure the store felt like a natural extension of Seabrook. The signature windswept trees of Seabrook seen pictured on a wall at Lorraine’s is just one example of the team thoughtfully embracing being a part of the beach town.
“This isn’t a chain, this is our first store together,” says Kristine, who is also a Seabrook homeowner since 2018. “We really care about the town and we feel like we have a responsibility to represent Seabrook really well.”
The studio is the perfect space for solo travelers, small groups, families, and couples looking for a low-key, fun, and engaging experience. Those who have stopped by Lorraine’s likely recall the warm welcome of the studio’s manager, Amber, who has been there since the store opened. The experienced staff is there to guide guests through the candle-making process, from choosing the scents, to setting the candles, and answering any questions along the way.
Open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Lorraine’s offers candle-making sessions, highlighting a variety of scent options including spring inspired limoncello cream, matcha and bergamot, passionfruit & pineapple, and many more! There is a wide variety of unique vessels to choose from making each candle unique.
Lorraine’s also hosts private events and offers online ordering, check out Lorraine’s Candle Studio website for more information.
