Stargazing

Check out some of our favorite parks throughout town to sit back and stargaze! Fall in Seabrook is notorious for the breathtaking sunsets that segue into peaceful autumn nights, and those nights can reveal a night sky brimming with stars. With little light pollution in Seabrook, it makes it easier to explore the night skies on those clear nights that feel especially serene on the coast.  A fun solo or family activity, stargazing is a simple and rewarding year-round pastime.

Where To Go

Any wide-open space works well to stargaze, try out one these parks in Seabrook for a prime night sky view! Overlook Park, the Pacific Glen oval park, Sunset Amphitheater park, Kucera Park, Crescent Park, Horseshoe Park and Barn Hill Park.

Pick A Park And Stargaze In Seabrook

Or of course the beach is just a short walk away from anywhere in Seabrook, just pick your favorite walk-on beach access.

What To Bring

Make sure to bring plenty of layers along for your stargazing outing. The refreshing, yet undeniably cool beach breezes call for a warm coat or even a cozy blanket to wrap up in. Bring along a lantern, flashlight, or other light source if you plan to walk to the beach or from the beach after sunset. If you have any red paper, try putting that over your light source to help your vision stay adjusted to nighttime!

Check The Tides

Always check the tide tables before venturing to the beach to make sure it is safe. If you are a guest, there is a tide table chart within your amenity bag or you can visit a tide tables website. There are also surf warning flags posted by the beach accesses that will signify if conditions are not safe to be on the beach.

What To Look For

Aside from the thrill that comes with each shooting star in the night sky, spotting constellations like the Big Dipper, planets, and satellites passing by is fun, too. To see the timeframe when planets will be visible, take a look at Time And Date’s Astronomy Calendar.

Whether you are cozy on one of the porches or decks or have wandered into one of Seabrook’s parks or ventured to the beach, you won’t want to miss stargazing along the Washington Coast. We also recommend bringing a thermos of apple cider or hot chocolate to enjoy throughout the evening, too!
