It’s time for clam chowder, fried clams, and clam fritters!

Digging for razor clams is one of the most popular outdoor activities: it’s family-friendly, it’s easy, and it’s right here in Seabrook’s backyard.

A successful day of clam digging starts with the right gear. Conditions can be wet and muddy, so rubber boots, hip or chest waders, and a raincoat are recommended. Clams are traditionally dug with a clam shovel, though a clam gun is another popular option.

Basecamp, located on Front and Market Street, makes it easy to prepare, offering clam-digging licenses and a full range of gear, including clam guns, wet gear, shovels, and bags. Access to a rentable clam-cleaning station is also available.

Licenses can also be purchased on the WDFW’s website. The daily limit is 15 clams per licensed person.
