Outdoor Fireplace Complete, House Is Shaping Up!

Walking through the Coastal Living Magazine Ultimate Beach House has had a totally new feeling lately.

The house feels more complete, like it is almost ready to welcome the crowds that will be touring it from July 16 – October 31. Construction is vivid in most places, yet the completed facets of each room take precedence for some reason. Here is an update of the progress straight from the Washington Coast!

The two chimneys for the inside and outside fireplace have been installed and completed. The interior fireplace continues out into a stainless steel chimney that sticks out parallel to the house on the south side. The outdoor masonry fireplace has a beautiful stone finish and sits nicely on top of the breezeway that connects the main house and guest house.

Right below the breezeway, an Azek deck is being put in, which will give the courtyard a more beachy feel. The deck on the front of the house that looks out to the ocean has also been completed, and is waiting for the railing on the edges.

Inside, cabinets supplied by J.Tribble continue to be installed throughout the house and are really adding a new dimension to the open space.

Painters are still working hard and have finished painting the guest house. A sign that said “stay out, wet paint” kept us away from snapping some photos inside the guest house, but will surely have them on the blog next week.

Downstairs, everything is ready for the sauna which arrived today and is going to be installed tomorrow.

We have over 20 pictures for you below, so hope you enjoy the update!

Pine Walls Give The Idea House That Cabin Feel

If you’ve walked through the Coastal Living Magazine® Idea House lately, you’ve probably come out of it with an astonished look!

For more than a week now, the first floor of the beach house has been decorated with gorgeous-looking pine board walls all around the open area that is the living room and kitchen! You can see in the pictures below that the wooden walls of the main floor look magnificent and really add to the cabin feel of the Ultimate Beach House.

The basement of the house has also seen a lot of progress this week. When designer Lew Oliver initially drew up the floor plans for the idea house, one of the main features in the basement was a spa room with a sauna. This week, cedar boards were put up in the spa room and the sauna seems to be taking shape as well!

The media room, which is also in the basement, is waiting for the wallpapers after the walls were primed last week. Pictures of the media room have also been added to this post.

Probably the most colorful images we have put so far on this Ultimate Beach House blog are the master bedroom bathroom tiles. These reclaimed picturesque tiles are over 100 years old and come from an old house in France – courtesy of this project’s interior designer Tim Clarke. As the construction of the idea house nears completion, the designer team is eager to put their fingerprint on this amazing development out on the Washington coast.

The 2010 Coastal Living Magazine® Idea House really seems to be one for the ages.
