Celebrate Father’s Day with a 5K Fun Run

Seabrook Washington Coast Fun Run Father's Day 5K

Please note: this year's 5K will not be on the beach

Seabrook is not only a place to relax and unwind, but also a unique area to be active and have fun outdoors. Whether you are mountain-biking, kite-surfing, or off for a run, the scenery on the Washington coast makes for a truly remarkable experience.

Every year since Seabrook’s inception, we celebrate Father’s Day with a 5K Fun Run taking place on the sandy beaches or on the streets and trails of Seabrook. To continue the tradition, this year’s 5K will be taking place on Saturday, June 16 starting at 9:30am on Front Street.

For the first time ever, the Fun Run will begin in center of town in front of the townhouse that hosts Blue Spa’s in-town massage studio and our newest merchant, Seabrook’s independent bookstore Blind Dog Books. From there, the course will take you through Seabrook’s neighborhoods, streets, and hiking trails, and will eventually loop back to the starting point for the run’s finish line. Water and refreshments will be provided at the start/finish line, as well as commemorative t-shirts till supplies last.

The 5K will kick off with a short Kid’s Fun Dash, as is now a tradition on Father’s Day at Seabrook. Reserved for children age 12 or under, this is a great way to start off this year’s Father’s Day weekend at the beach.

So pack those running shoes, stretch a bit in the morning, and we’ll see you on Front Street on Saturday, June 16. If you haven’t yet chosen your lodging on the Washington coast for the weekend, look no further than our charming beach cottages at Seabrook Cottage Rentals. Hurry up though, Father’s Day weekend is a popular one at Seabrook and we are already at near-full occupancy for Friday and Saturday night.

See you at the beach!

What: Father’s Day Annual Fun Run
When: Saturday, June 16
Time: 9:30am, registration starts 8:30am

June 30, 2011 By: Seabrook Category: Contests

Whether you’re here for the day or for the week, one of the most common questions asked at Seabrook is: “What should we do while we’re here?”

Seabrook’s best activities are always changing, but we recently sat down and put together the following list of our summertime favorites to share with you. We hope your favorite Seabrook summertime activity is on the list, but if it’s not, we want to know what it is!

Just post a comment below and tell us what we missed and what you enjoy doing at Seabrook the most!

Each suggestion will be entered to win a $50 Gift Card to Seabrook’s Mill 109 Restaurant and Pub!

Winners will be announced here on the Seabrook Blog, on Thursday, July 21.

1. Take a group photo on “The Big Stump”

Seabrook Stump GroupThis stump has become famous among Seabrook residents and guests as a landmark here in town. The notch scars in its trunk giving it the designation as a “Springboard Stump” were created by loggers who carved out a place to rest the springboards in order to cut the tree. We believe the tree was cut in the late 1800’s when logging was prevalent here on the Washington Coast.

2. Discover Gelato at Lil’s Pantry

Seabrook Stump GroupGelato finds its roots in the frozen desserts served in ancient Rome and Egypt. It was originally made from ice and snow brought down from mountaintops and preserved below ground. In the 1500’s, gelato as we know it appeared during banquets at the Medici court in Florence, Italy. Today, this famed Italian treat has made its way to the Washington Coast where you can try one of Lil’s Pantry’s three rotating flavors any day of the week!

3. Enjoy S’mores in Crescent Park

Seabrook Smores Crescent ParkAfter a day of surf and sand, who can resist a hot gooey s’more at twilight around one of Crescent Park’s coveted fire pits? Not us! There are also many firepits across the different neighborhoods at Seabrook where s’mores are a popular activity. We found this new take on the traditional childhood classic in Seattle Magazine last summer and fell in love! Hopefully you’ll enjoy it as much as we did!
