The Winemaker Dinner series at Seabrook continues!

After a very successful weekend of J. Bookwalter’s Wines and Mill 109 Restaurant’s grub in November, next on the line up is a night of local wines and foods at Seabrook. Coming to the beach on Saturday, March 9 at 7:00pm we have the well-known Westport Winery out of Aberdeen, WA pairing up their expert wines with Mill 109 Restaurant’s extravagant 5-course dinner menu at an oceanview home on Seabrook Ave! That’s right, delicious food, incredible wine, and more breathtaking views of the ocean – an opportunity for a perfect night unlike any other on the Washington Coast!

For the dinner, we’ll be honored to have official winemaker Dana Roberts from Westport Winery join us to present and educate dinner patrons on the wine pairings offered with the delicious meal from Mill 109.

As the seasons change from Autumn to Winter, storm watching season on the Washington Coast is nearly upon us. While we love the experiences and emotions sunny summer days provide, we also have a special place in our hearts for sitting by the fireside on a stormy winter night with a glass of wine and a delicious meal. To kick off the 2012-2013 storm watching season, we are emphatically pleased to organize and offer a very special Winemaker Dinner featuring J. Bookwalter Wines in the luxurious Coastal Living House on Friday, November 16 at 7:00pm! That’s right, delicious food, incredible wine, and a breathtaking view of the ocean in a home that is unlike anything on the Washington Coast!

Before we dive into the details of the menu and wine pairings, we are honored to have John Bookwalter, owner and winemaker of the award winning Bookwalter Wines, join us to present and educate dinner patrons on the wine pairings offered with the delicious meal from Mill 109. For more than 15 years, Bookwalter Wines have been among the best wines in Washington State and we will be the first to say that we are more than excited to try their award winning wines.

We would also like to specially thank Anthology | Storied Destinations for providing the one-of-a-kind setting for this magical evening, The Coastal Living House. Designed exclusively for the nationally renowned Coastal Living Magazine, celebrated house designers Lew Oliver & Tim Clarke collaborated to create this 3,200 s.f. Pacific NW coastal shingle-style beach escape.

Positioned to take full advantage of the stunning Pacific Ocean views from three levels and resting in Seabrook’s sought after Northwest Glen neighborhood, the cottage looks out through an open forested bluff down to a wide sandy beach.

Thinking about the setting for this amazing evening gets our hearts beating and imagining the tastes and smells of the meal and the wine pairings makes our mouths water. Each year, hundreds of memories frozen in film are submitted to the Seabrook Photo Challenge. This year, the competition was tougher than ever before! We had over 300 pictures submitted for this year’s Photo Challenge and, of those, 13 images were handpicked for the Seabrook 2012 Calendar!

Each photographer of the winning pictures will receive a $100 gift card to the Mill 109 Pub-Restaurant. Additionally, the cover picture winner will get a free beach cruiser bike – a well-known trademark of Seabrook’s lifestyle.

Rob Paylor is the new face in town here at Seabrook and also the newest addition to the Mill 109 Restaurant and Pub!  Joining us here at the beach as the Mill 109’s General Manager, Rob has already begun making a real impact at Seabrook. Chances are, the next time you walk into the restaurant, Rob’s smiling face will be there to greet you!

As the epitome of a “people person,” Rob is the kind of guy who will know your usual order before you realize that you’ve become a regular!  He has a talent for relationship-building a long and well-honed career managing local favorites such as Galway Bay in Ocean Shores and The 8^th Street Ale House in Hoquiam. Rob understands that there is always an element of celebration that goes along with dining out and is not only excited to be a part of those celebrations, but creates unique personal touches for his customers to really make it a night to remember!

This Grays Harbor native studied at the Western Culinary Institute (now Le Cordon Bleu College) in Portland. While he had the opportunity to live anywhere, he and his wife Sara (and two children Robbie and Audrey) decided to make their home in Aloha, WA where Rob’s great grandfather worked as a “shingle weaver” back in 1915.  In fact, he’ll joke with you that in four generations and in 96 years, the Paylor family has only made it about one mile from where they started!

Nonetheless, because of Rob’s local community connections and the relationships he’s created in Grays Harbor County, the Mill 109 will be enjoying  many more events and musical talents on a regular basis!  He’s getting the word about what’s happening through the Mill 109 Restaurant & Pub’s Website, as well Mill 109’s Facebook page. Look out for many creative ideas and events at Seabrook’s favorite restaurant and pub.

Rob is already working hard on a brand new fall menu and rumor has it that by October you’ll be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor!  In the meantime, try the Mill 109 Beach Burger or Fish Tacos with one of Alameda Brewing’s craft beers (likely one of the Mill 109’s best kept secrets) which are on tap right now!

Rob has watched Seabrook grow quite a bit over the past eight years and is excited to be a part of its future.  Stop by the Mill 109 Restaurant and Pub and meet the newest addition to the team!

After six weeks of intense preparation and hard work, the Mill 109 Pub has now opened its doors for all excited guests and visitors!

Stop by the brand new pub-restaurant during your visit to Seabrook and try Mill 109’s completely refined menu, diverse beer selection, and enjoy the interior atmosphere celebrating the history of the Washington coast. Or if you’re in the area, just hop on over for a meal or two, you will not be disappointed!

To officially kick off Mill 109’s opening, Seabrook is planning on hosting a grand opening celebration during one of the upcoming February weekends. Stay tuned to the Seabrook Blog for more details.
