Seabrook’s Indoor Pool Coming Along Nicely

August 26, 2011 By: Seabrook Category: swimming pool

What a better way to kick off the weekend than a slideshow full of progress pictures from the Seabrook Indoor Pool!

Now that we’re just weeks away from the its opening, the pool building is making big strides forward. The shingle roofing and siding is fully in place, while we’re hard at work on the interior of the swimming pool.

In fact, for the first time since we announced the pool, you get a sneak peek of the interior work of the building in today’s progress slideshow!

If you’ve had a chance to visit Seabrook this summer, you’ve sure noticed all the activity around the swimming pool on the southern side of Crescent Park. If not, head over to Seabrook Cottage Rentals and pick your favorite beach cottage.

The pool is only weeks from being completed, so make sure to be one of the first ones to take a dip in what is sure to be one of Seabrook’s favorite amenities!

Join Us For The “World’s Largest Ice Cream Sundae” Party!

Ice Cream Sundae

The world's most expensive Ice Cream Sundae ever, consisting of five scoops of ice cream made with Tahitian vanilla beans, Madagascar vanilla and Chuao chocolate, and topped with Amedei Porcelana, edible 23-carat gold leaf, candied fruits, cherries, and garnished with real gold dragée. It is served with an 18-karat gold spoon.

Celebrate Seabrook’s newest pocket park by helping us build the world’s largest ice cream sundae on what could very well be the world’s largest picnic table in Lily Walk Park! Hosted by the all of your favorite Seabrook retailers, each business will be showing their support of Seabrook’s brand new neighborhood, Lily Walk. The event is schedule for this Saturday, August 13 at 6:30pm.

No one really knows where the first ice cream sundae was enjoyed (a number of people across the United States have claimed to be its inventor), but we do know that there are few things so delicious on a summer’s day than an ice cream sundae.

Check out these fun ice cream sundae facts:

“The oldest-known written evidence of a sundae is from Ithaca, NY.  The local Soda Fountain – Platt & Colt ran a newspaper ad for an Ice Cream specialty “Cherry Sunday,” in the Ithaca Daily Journal dated April 5, 1892.

It is largely agreed upon that the ice cream sundae was created in the late 1800’s as an enjoyable Sunday treat to replace the popular ice cream soda which was banned due to “Blue Laws” prohibiting its consumption on Sundays in many areas of the United States.

The most expensive ice cream sundae (also a Guinness World Record) is the Serendipity Golden Opulence Sundae, served only at the Serendipity 3 restaurant in New York City. It costs $1000 and requires reservations at least 48 hours in advance.”

Make a weekend of this fun Seabrook event and stop by Colours Pottery Painting studio on Friday or Saturday and receive 10% off of your very own ice cream bowl. Paint it with a beachy theme or choose a variety of colors to complement your favorite ice cream flavor!

What kind of Ice Cream Sundae will you choose this weekend?  Bring your appetite and taste for adventure – we’ll provide the ice cream and toppings!

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!”

Winner of the “Favorite Things To Do At Seabrook” Contest is…

August 05, 2011 By: Seabrook Category: Contests

Washington CoastWhew, this was a tough one. Earlier this summer, we asked you all to share your favorite things to do while at Seabrook. In a short time we received a lot of really good responses from both homeowners and guests! While that made it difficult to select the winner of the contest, we finally found one post that comprehensively summarized many fun things to do while on the Washington coast.

So without further ado, please join us in congratulating Dana H. for being the winner of Seabrook’s summer contest!!

Dana will receive a $50 Gift Certificate to Seabrook’s favorite dining spot, the Mill 109 Restaurant & Pub. Her response was very well written and had a very unique perspective given the fact that she lives in Arizona. Here is what she wrote:

Coming from hot Arizona, Seabrook is always a welcome relief from the dust and heat.

The top things that we have done in Seabrook and the Seabrook area are as follows:

  • Relax. Seabrook is very laid back and it’s easy to just relax and kick back for a while
  • Watch a movie. Most, if not all rental homes have a DVD player and after the drive from Seattle it is nice to just sit down, relax, and watch a movie to unwind.
  • Cool Off. Especially for people like me coming from out of state it is nice to be somewhere it can be sunny and cool, cloudy and cool, or windy and cold. Any one of these is better than where I am coming from and an enjoyable experience. A great memory I have from Seabrook is sitting by the fire outside watching the mist “rolling through the air” from the trees. Hard to explain, just something that has to be experienced!
